PSP Firmware 3.03: more PS1 games and…?

So what else does it do?

Update: For Devhook details on Firmware 3.03, please visit this article!

Sometimes, it can be very misleading to have someone blurt out “OH NOEZ! PSP FW3.03 is up!” on our Gurumin gameplay posts. That’s not exactly the best place to get the word out about something like that.

Still, it seems to be spot on. This version 3.03 comes through Network Update and apparently adds more titles to the list of PS1 games Sony‘s handheld can play. Right now, that seems to be the only thing it does. We’re still trying to verify, but there are scattered reports elsewhere of this being true.

If you know if anything else is on this new update, let us know with a news tip or make a post on the discussion thread below. Of course, this update isn’t really anything great if you don’t have a PS3 (which is most of us), so let’s just hope they didn’t mess with the encryption again.
