PSP FW 5.55 spotted in Japan Expo
KaiserCz, one of the editors at PSPGen, went over to the Japan Expo for a look at what the event had to offer. There, he got his hands on a PSP-1000, on which he tried out a Soul Calibur demo. But that’s not really the point of this story. What’s notable here is that KaiserCz found that the PSP that he used was running on firmware 5.55.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the set-up, KaiserCz was unable to determine the features of the said firmware. He didn’t leave empty-handed though – the managed to walk away with a snapshot of the PSP, showing that it really was running on 5.55. The image is quite blurry, so you may have to squint a bit.
Any further info about 5.55 is currently unavailable, and what it does is left to pure speculation. We’ll keep you guys posted once we find out more.
