PSP Homebrew: Laser Invaders v1

Laser Invaders v1 - Image 1Laser Invaders v1 is a laser control game developed by Art and based on the PSP laser control idea by califrag. Using a Go!Cam, you can point a laser dot on the wall above your unit, and that would control your aim on the screen. It sounds pretty complicated but the full article includes a gameplay video; so check it out!

Last September, homebrew developer califrag came up with eyePSP, which turns an ordinary laser pointer into a precision controller for the PSP. The possibilities for this idea are huge (it’s like a portable mini Wii) and I can’t wait to see how far it’ll go.

Developer Art has taken the concept and fleshed it out a little bit more with a working game called Laser Invaders v1. He coded the game from scratch, based on template of the ps2dev.org Go!Cam demo. Naturally, you’re going to need Go!Cam first to play the game. Here’s Art explaining the game’s mechanics:

The idea is to shoot all invaders in as short time as possible. Shooting the UFO will win you a 6 second time bonus which is deducted from the time before the skill level report is calculated. The time is displayed at the end of the game, and then the 6 second bonus is subtracted before determining the player skill level.

Now here’s a YouTube vid to help you get a better idea how it works:
