PSP titles you won’t let go? Not exactly
We picked up on this article on the Boston herald about PSP titles you won’t let go recently, and we’ve been wondering if anyone else shares our sentiment. Simply put: we have issues with some of the choices.
While we respect Doug Elfman’s opinion on the matter, we’re pretty sure the beloved commenters of QJ can probably make a list that really resonates with the community better, especially if someone’s planning on getting a unit or some games as a gift this Christmas.
For the most part, we can certainly agree with his placing Rockstar’s Vice City and Liberty City Stories as part of his keepers. They’re solid games, and there’s nothing more cathartic after a bad day at school than grabbing a taxi in-game and playing cabbie chicken with pedestrians. The two SOCOM Fireteam Bravo games were also great choices by Elfman. They’re widely held to be great PSP shooters with a wide fanbase, even if you don’t like the fact that some people might use a cheat device or three to get ahead. That being said, the heart of the matter follows below.
Loco Roco: Actually, not that bad as a keeper, but quirky round objects as a surrealistic controllable device had their triumph with Namco’s Katamari games. Still, not exactly a big issue because the darned thing is lovable.
Field Commander: It’s a nice game and we even gave it an 8. The problem is the genre he puts it in: “This summer’s Field Commander is one of the most fun role-playing games I’ve played on any system, and I don’t love role-playing games.” He’s really not a fan of role-playing games since Field Commander is, to quote the game’s producer, “a strategy game”. Someone get him a copy of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth please.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07: Let’s forget the fact that golf isn’t exactly the best game to use for a sports recommendation among teens. You can show that you’re not completely in touch with the hearts of gamers just by recommending an EA game, since gamers are certainly not happy with Electronic Arts‘ microtransaction frenzy right now.
Well… that’s all we have to say on the matter. We’ve got no doubt you have better genre picks for the holiday season, so read up on his choices, and give us an idea of what should have been on that list of games you wouldn’t let go of. Still, mad props to Mr. Elfman. At least he didn’t diss Final Fantasy.
