Homebrew coder M@x has ported the program phoneME to the PlayStation Portable and dubbed it as pspME. While the program is just on version 0.1, it is already capable of doing a lot of things.
Among these is the implementation of several input methods as well as the ability to install applications from local JAR file. See the full features after the jump!

Homebrew coder M@x has just released a new application to be used on the Sony PlayStation Portable called pspME. This is actually a SUN open source JavaME implementation of the program phoneME.
For those not familiar with the original app phoneME, the project was started to expand the use of Java ME platform technology on mobile phones. M@x said the following about version 0.1 of the PSP port:
The goal of pspME is porting phoneME to Sony PSP game console. As the first step, my goal is a phoneMEFeature PSP implementation, which can enable user to run JavaME application on CLDC.
The coder added as well that in the future, he is planning as well to port phoneMEAdvanced to the Sony handheld. But in the meantime, here are the complete features of the current build:
- An initiative porting of MIDP and CLDC
- Java AMS with MVM supporting
- Several input methods: QWERTY/Abc/Symbol/…
- Install application from local JAR file
To be able to make pspME v0.1 run on your PSP, note that you have to prepare the building environment first. The source link below leads to the original post of the coder for further details regarding installation.
