A PSPThom screenshotIf the name Zx-81 begins to sound familiar, then you’ve probably been checking out the emulators section here at QJ. For today, this homebrew coder announces the latest addition to our PSP emulator collection with a PSPThom application, updated to version 1.0.4.

In case you’re asking, PSPThom is a PSP-based application derived from the PC-based Thom emulator, which was built into the Thomson TO7 series of home computers. It was originally written by Sylvain Huet for MacOS, Windows, and Unix in 1996, and was eventually continued by Eric Botcazou. Now, as for this application’s latest changes:

  • Disk image (in .sap format) are now supported
  • Add option to choose the Basic rom version
  • New feature to toggle automatically between Basic rom version (depending if a tape or disk image is loaded)
  • Add new commands to run tape/disk games
  • Add a file (run.txt) to specify association between
  • the disk/tape name and the name of the command to
  • Run (for example file yyy.sap -> LOADM”xxx”,,R)
  • New icons from Gelon
  • New background image

Make sure to view the file’s README for full installation instructions and controls. The pack also contains a GNU public license, so guys planning to make a modified version of PSPThom may want to check that out as well. And as we’re on the subject of emulators, be sure to check out Zx-81’s latest works for PSPSIM or PSPYape for more retro gaming info. Enjoy your download!
