Quake Multiplayer Update: PSP v2.0

Peter Mackay and Chris Swindle have put PSP Quake under for a major facelift. This PSP homebrew game, which is ported from the original Quake source code plays just like past versions you’ve played, however the big update today is that in this release, the PSP version now has the network code added, so you can go head to head with rivals in multiplayer Quake.

They have also started a project at SourceForge where the files will be posted when they are updated, you can also download the shareware version of Quake there. Since this is a newly combined version of Quake there have been a few major changes. So far Software rendering, Sound, Adhoc connection, and Infrastructure mode are all supported. Stable on firmware 2.0+ including PSP-PSP & Access point network support (DHCP recommended for 2.5+) and the on screen keyboard (not in 2+ currently). It seems the OSK doesn’t finish initializing in 2.0+ Firmware PSP’s and Hardware Rendering is not currently supported. The authors note that fast key taps may go unnoticed when the frame rate is low due to no input buffering.
