Quick fix: A temporary solution for the Super Smash Bros. Brawl read errors - Image 1For the fans, nothing’s quite as heartbreaking as finding out that their copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl is among those that’s not working. And while Nintendo has promised to do what they can to fix the problem, admittedly, it’s excruciating having to wait until your console gets back from the shop.

Now, in case you’re dead serious on getting your SSBB fix pronto, we came across a quick (and warranty-safe) way of getting your game to run. The tech suggestion was written 1UP Editor-in-Chief James Mielke, who explained that it may be better to let the Wii finish reading the game fully first instead of mashing the “A” button as soon as they loaded SSBB. As Mielke elaborated:

Basically, put the disc in, you can hear it making disc-reading sounds. Wait until they settle down, press A on the SSBB icon on the Wii menu, repeat the waiting process til the disc stops making reading sounds, then start the game with the Wiimote.

We remind users that this is just a temporary fix. The best way to solve this problem is to ready your repair order, and pray that you get the Wii back before the withdrawal symptoms kick in. If it’s any consolation, repairs and shipping are free. We’ll let you know if we run into any similar fixes for this ongoing problem.
