QuickPeek #62 at your service.

Whilst the week was more… sedate, if you can call it that, compared to last, that’s not to say we saw less action. Guess that’s a good sign that the industry continues thriving despite the less than encouraging times we have now. So let’s get this party started, so we can all get ready for the next one! QuickPeek #62 at your service.
The rumors about the PSP2 just won’t stop, and really, who can blame us fans? David Perry’s dared Sony to outright call him a liar, but so far they have yet to respond to that. We do expect a “We do not comment on rumors” spin anytime soon, though. Most likely from a nameless rep, too.
But Ray Maguire had no problem defending the PSP against the iPhone, saying that it’s got nothing on their PSP. Something like, “iPhone to kill the PSP? Tsssss….” (*cue ringing iPhone, Maguire puts up his index finger and answers the call. From Steve Jobs.*)
Also ready to wage war were the one-eyed warrriors, the Patapons, out for their second adventure. And it’s not gonna cost you much either.

Big, big updates came out for the PSP this week, and none is bigger than the release of Daedalus X64’s Beta 2. Have you upgraded yet? But that’s not all. Even as early as now, the team has already rolled out the expected changelog for the next version. Watch out for that new GUI and more bugfixes. More cool homebrew releases are out, so check out the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior for the full dibs.

Release dates galore is what we had the past week in the PS3 gaming front. Metal Gear Online SCENE expansion, anyone? Not to worry, we now know when it’s coming out. And more games got dated, too – both launches and delays alike. And then there’s the challenge: Microsoft says they’ve got an ace up their sleeves, sure to trump the wits out of Killzone 2. O rly?
Meanwhile, the PSN and Hone gets some new cool stuff to add to their cozy pad, especially if your a SFIV fan. Oh, and do drop by to visit the newly launched space for Resident Evil 5. The zombies will be sure to bring back your Tupperware to your front door themselves, we hear.
And what do you know, we’ve got something stirring in the homebrew front as well. Last week it was decrypted. And then it wasn’t. Now, it’s back to being decrypted. Only, this time’s more of a “sort of”.

As mentioned in the PS3 QuickPeek above, Microsoft’s spouting off some fierceness yet again, with the claim that they can – and will – beat the awesomeness of Killzone 2. Stealing the thunder from that new s, however, is the reports on the RROD’d Xbox 360 units: owners will have to pack and ship it themselves. Some don’t really see an issue with this as they did their own packaging, but some find this a bit unsettling because then there’s a higher probability that their units will get damaged during shipment, and then MS really won’t be liable to fix the unit.
Advice: pack that shiz, and pack it good!
But there’s more, so check out the Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior.

And so the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days finally get a launch date. That’s not the only thing that we got from the game, too. Square Enix is releasing a DSi bundle for KH Days, with pretty chess-like design on the front — and stuff. Like new screenshots.
And then the Wii’s System Menu got updated to 3.5, affecting the PatchMii and the Twilight Hack. But it’s only for Korea for now – not so sure if it’ll be coming out for other territories later.

Ooohhh, we’ve got a catfight out of the bag here. Ray Maguire takes his claws out and swipes at iPhone, saying that it’s got nothing on the PSP as far as games are concerned. We expect more of this word war in the upcoming weeks, and really, it just ups the excitement in the scene, don’t it? Nothing wrong with good, ol’ friendly competition after all.
More software programs and apps (games too) for your “handheld-in-the-making” iPhone, so do check out what else is there for you via the iPhone Weekend Warrior.

And that’s it for this week’s QuickJump QuickPeek. It was pretty steady compared to last week’s action-packed stuff, isn’t it? But that’s not to say that we’ve had it easier, too. Am definitely looking forward to Microsoft’s follow-through on their whole Killzone 2 claim. They better have something, lest Sony calls their bluff. Then where would Greenberg be? I don’t know, but am sure his foot will be in his mouth if that happens.
Also can’t wait for the Daedalus X64 Beta 2. The games do run smoother, and what’s even more exciting about it is that we know it’s only gonna get better from here.
Anyway, Resident Evil 5 is launching this coming week! That’s sure to shake things up some more! So keep it here with us as we bring you the latest updates in the world of games and brews. Just keep jumpin’!
