“Wii” is now a registered trademark in the US…say what?

wiiJust a little bite of trivia, people: the Wii has been around for years, sold millions of units, and has a ton of software to play with, but did you know that “Wii” just became a registered trademark in the US?

Now happily registered

Nintendo filed the trademark for “Wii” way, way back in 2006, and it only got registered at the USPTO just last Tuesday. In Japan, Nintendo also filed for “Zii”, “Vii” and other ridiculous names along the same line to protect the Wii name.

Ripoffs beware, Nintendo can now happily sue your Wiinfringing behinds hassle-free and with bigger fangs.
