R.I.P., Acclaim

Acclaim, a video game company, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. We can now all bow our heads and say, “Thank you.” While we feel for those who’ve lost their jobs, the company has brought us some real stinkers over the past years, including (but not limited to) Turok: Evolution, BMX: XXX (did the company really think nudity in this one would be enough to make the game sell?), and ECW Hardcore Revolution.

Even though the company announced their defeat long ago, they are just now putting their assets up for auction, allowing other companies to purchase the rights to titles like Fur Fighters and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls. The rights to the actual name of the now-broke company have already been sold, meaning that we will see some more games under the name of ‘Acclaim’ in the future.
