According to industry sources  the R4DS card for the Nintendo DS may affect Macronix International, a Taiwan-based ROM manufacturer.

This poses a big problem for the company, given that it attributes 50 percent of its revenues to ROMs. Nintendo is reportedly among the supplier’s biggest clients.

The report further indicates that the growing usage of the R4DS card may decrease sales of both Nintendo’s game cartridges, and of Macronix’s ROM distribution. Nanya Technology, a company Macronix also outsources ROM orders to, may be duly affected as well.
