Raiden action figure better than the 12-inch Solid Snake?

Some things are so beautiful they bring tears to your eyes. Look at the details on this figure from the Medicom labs and to be carried by Sideshow Collectibles.

This well-crafted “toy” is not only a testament to the makers of this toy but also to the designers of the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots game, especially Hideo Kojima the head designer (producer, director, and writer) and Yoji Shinkawa (character design). We completely agree with Figures.com: Raiden’s exoskeleton suit is “one of the most intricately detailed outfits in any video game – and now action figure – in recent history.”

You might want to download the E3 Full Trailer for more Raiden. Say what you want about Raiden, and love him or hate him because of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Raiden-haters can rejoice that he isn’t playable in this version).

Two trivia-related things to look at:

  • You might remember Policenauts, another game written and directed by Hideo Kojima way back in the mid-90s. That game had a huge company in it called “Tokugawa Heavy Industries”. And that’s the stamp on Raiden’s exoskeleton. Look at the clear face-plate.
  • Kojima said the reason why Raiden is so pale is because his blood has been replaced with white artificial blood. Policenauts also had this white artificial blood.

So for those of you who are into action figures, start saving up. This 1/16th-scale Raiden is the perfect playmate for your 12-inch Solid Snake.
