Rambus Technology Licnesed to IBM for Cell BE

Rambus, an American memory designer company, has officially signed the licensing contract with IBM on March 17. The basic content of this contract is to give IBM the license to use Rambus’ FlexIO processor bus and XDR memory interface technology.

The FlexIO and XDR interface will be able to largely enhance the performance of the Cell BE-powered electronics, servers and high-performance computer systems when combined with IBM’s processor technology.

This contract with Rambus was described as “the critical chain for the Cell BE-base and chipset, which will make the revolutionary Cell BE architecture the most cutting-edge computer product on the development field” by Kevin, the vice president of IBM engineering/technology service world-wide.
