Rare: Lag is not an issue with Kinect

Lag is one of the biggest issues when it comes to motion controllers. According to Rare, it’s not a problem in Microsoft’s Kinect. It used to be, but they’ve reportedly already worked out the kinks in the system.
“Lag is not an issue,” Rare’s executive producer of technology and communications, Nick Burton, told Eurogamer. “As with any prototype stuff, of course it was in the past. That’s to be expected.”
“Where we’re at now, not at all. Yes, we’ve done a lot work to make sure it wasn’t a problem, but when you’ve got something that’s copying what you’re doing you can’t have a lot of lag.”
Burton further pointed out that Kinect Sports, in particular, has 150ms lag, although apparently that number doesn’t include TV lag. Varied severity of lag shown by Kinect game demos at E3 suggest that how much lag a Kinect game has will depend on how good the developer is at minimizing it.
