RCA 20gb Portable Media Player (PMP)
PCMag.com has released a review on the RCA’s X3000 a 20gb media player. The X3000 features a 3.6 LCD at 320 x 240 resolution, DirectTV2Go, enough storage to hold 40 full length films, and comes in at eight ounces and 3/4 inch thick. Currently WalMart is exclusively offering the media player for sale at $388.87.
Accessories include a full-featured 37-button IR remote, two triple-A batteries (for the remote), a docking cradle, an IR emitter, two 3.5mm-to-RCA audio/video cables, an AC adapter, a cigarette-lighter adapter, and a USB On-The-Go cable.
“Overall, I like this player for its design, but its performance isn’t overwhelmingly impressive. It does, however, make a solid portable DVR that’s very easy to set up and use, and it’s compatible with the major WMA and WMV based download, subscription, and rental services, as well as with Audible. I’m on the fence about whether its $399 list price represents a good deal. If the hard drive were 30GB I’d say it was a bargain, but for a 20GB hard drive it is just a fair price, given the device’s features and ample accessories. I still prefer the Archos AV 500 for its wider, higher-res screen and better A/V quality, as well as for its larger storage capacity. Of course, you certainly pay more for those things.”
