Reactor v1.0 for PSP LuaPlayer

Electris‘ Studio Kagato has released another game for the NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition: Breakout-inspired Reactor v1.0.

In this game, players control a shield running along the reactor’s wall and bounce a proton ball to hit and eliminate nasty little particles lurking inside for points.  Chain hits together in a single pass for bonus points. Eliminate all particles, move up one level. Every time you move up a level, the game throws in more particles, more speed, and more mayhem. Don’t let the proton hit the reactor wall or you’ll lose energy! Lose all your energy, and… BOOM!

Gameplay shot of Reactor v1.0

Control for this game’s slightly different from the classic Breakout formula but is very simple, very easy to get into and get the hang of. Use the analog stick to position your deflector: you want it at the twelve-o’clock position, push the stick up; if you want it at the seven-o’clock position, push the stick in the appropriate direction. Press X to launch your proton at the start of each level; Select to quit your game.

Scoring (from Readme.txt):

  • Base value for eliminating a particle is 10 points.
  • If the Proton hits the Shield or wall without hitting a particle first, the value is reduced by 1 point (to a minimum of 5 points).
  • Hit multiple particles with one shot for a chain reaction. Successive particles in a chain reaction multiplies the value. (eg. 3 hit chain: 10 points -> 20 points -> 30 points = 60 point total)
  • At the end of each level gain 10 points per unit of energy remaining (full energy is worth 100 points)

Reactor v1.0 will run on firmwares 1.5 and 2.0-2.6. You’ll need LuaPlayer and eLoader on your PSPs as well. Just drop the game folder into the PSP/GAME/luaplayer/Applications directory on your PSP, and you’re good to go.
