Real Holograms, The Future Is Now!

Xbox 360, PS3, Revolution? Pah! Welcome the real next generation! The Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has been showing off a working 3-dimensional display that does not use any mirrors, tricks or sleight of hand. Instead the unit works by aligning infra-red lasers at points in space, tiny dots of plasma form at the convergence points and voila, instant hologram.Settle down though, at present only a hundred dots can be generated per second, and the dots are a little large ( we need to work on that resolution), so it’ll be a while before we’re fragging each other in true 3D.

Between this and the Minority Report-esuqe touch screen monitor, I think it’s safe to say we live in an age of voodoo and dark, dark magic.
