Receive Telephone Calls On Your PSPhone!
There have been many attempts to turn various objects into communication devices (and vice versa), but right now, this one has got to be one of the most interesting. One of the most exciting hacks and/or mods that we have come upon so far would be the one that could partly turn your PSP into a one-way mobile phone.
You heard us right.
Dubbed as the “PSPhone” this hack was created by a forum member named Lior. He has designed and developed a phone chip that allows an ordinary PSP to receive calls as well as display GSM signal strength. To quote from the creator:
“IÂ’m still working on how to resize it and get it into a mass production.
The pack will contain:
X1 antenna
X1 board headsets with microphone
X2 wires
X1 32 mega memory stick
The antenna to connect to the local network. On the board will be a switch to switch between CDMA network (without sim card) and the GSM network (with the sim card). The wires are to connect the board and the antenna to the PSP. All will cost approximately more or less than $60.”
He has also made this video to show the prototype in action. Would the PSP soon also count as a fully functional mobile phone? Stay tuned to find out!
