Report: Splinter Cell: Conviction has freeze bug
Some Xbox 360 gamers who bought Splinter Cell: Conviction on day one are reportedly running into a freeze bug, mostly during the game’s second level. Ubisoft knows about the problem already but they don’t have a proper fix yet. Luckily it seems a workaround has already been found.
Some gamers who bought Splinter Cell: Conviction on day one are reportedly running into a freeze bug, mostly during the game’s second level. Ubisoft knows about the problem already but they don’t have a proper fix yet. Luckily it seems a workaround has already been found.
As Kotaku reports, the freeze reports come from Xbox 360 owners who play Conviction while connected to Xbox Live. The workaround involves clearing the 360’s hard drive cache and rebooting with Xbox Live disconnected. This will reportedly bypass the freeze on the second level.
On their end, Ubisoft has outlined the steps needed to clear the Xbox 360’s system cache. If you’ve experienced the problem, try this method until Ubisoft finishes looking into it and releases a fix.
- Load to the Xbox 360 dashboard
- Choose “System Settings”
- Choose “Memory”
- Highlight your hard drive
- Press “y” for device options
- Choose to clear system cache
