Japan Xbox Live users sure are lucky today. That’s because the demo for Resident Evil 5 is now out. But that doesn’t mean us folks in other regions would just have to throw a pity party in the corner.

Reports have been floating about giving tips on how to access the said Japanese demo of the game. Heard too from Siliconera that’s it’s fully in English. As it’s limited for the Japanese XBL, then you’ll obviously need a Japanese XBL account. If you’re impatient enough to wait for the North American release of the demo, then follow the steps, and you should be on your way to RE5 demo heaven.

  1. Open a Japanese Hotmail account
  2. Follow form below when filling up registration for Japanese account (click on it for a bigger view) Remember your email address and password
  3. Turn on Xbox 360, make a new profile, pick name, select avatar
  4. Click on “Join Xbox Live” button on pop-up menu

The thing you’ll have to watch out for to know that you’re on the right track is “Local: Japan” on your screen, complete with Japanese characters. But don’t worry, you won’t have to stay stuck with those, you can switch it to English if you’d like.

Further instructions: When you get to the telephone field (of course, after having followed the instructions in the same manner you’d be making a regular XBL account), enter this number: 4332-5300. Account will be readied, and voila! You are now a happy person with access to Resident Evil 5‘s demo. Just look for Biohazard 5, its Japanese monicker, through the games list.

If you want to find it sooner, pick the following hiragana characters: “?.” There you go, that’s a pretty nice workaround, don’t you think? Of course, if you’re in the region, then you obviously don’t have to bother yourself with all these things, and you can just go straight ahead to enjoying the demo.

We’ll be trying our luck now. Good luck to you, too.
