Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Wii Zapper demonstration video
The Wii Zapper certainly is quite the innovation from Nintendo. Not just a mere housing shell for the Wiimote and Nunchuck, it gives a player that added sense of immersion, that he’s actually handling a firearm. This comes largely into play with shooting games on the Nintendo Wii like Capcom‘s Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Let’s look at how this baby handles through a video game that pits you against the series’ hordes of zombies in this demonstration video, shall we?
Looking at the gameplay, it seems that your movements with the Wii Zapper is translated very accurately into the game. There’s a particular ease with aiming for headshots, as well as grenade-launching. Switching weapons in real time seems to be pretty quick as well, not to mention picking up items.
One little quirk we couldn’t help but notice was the rather ungainly movement of reloading – which, of course, is giving the entire Wii Zapper a brief shake. We’ve seen this in action with The House of the Dead 4, where you had to reload by shaking your submachine gun. Of course, the Wii Zapper is different from the arcade peripheral, and with the Wiimote and Nunchuck docked onto it, it’d be quite awkward to shake the Zapper to reload over and over with the same movement.
Of course, we also can’t help but notice that Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles itself looks totally awesome, and reloading quirk or not, it’s going to be a blast to play with the Wii Zapper. Updates as we get them, and you can check out the video in full at the read link below.
