Retailers happy with Wii sales

Happy people playing with their WiisSo the Wii sold out during launch. Yeah, it has raised quite a few eyebrows, as some thought there’s more than enough to go around for everyone. But it’s not that big a deal – after all, Nintendo guaranteed us that there’s going to be four million more units “by the end of the Holiday Sales season.”

Anyway, the retailers seem to be as happy as the lucky Wii owners themselves, as the were able to rake in profits during the launch: “Circuit City spokesman Jim Babb told Siliconvalley.com, ‘There were enough people in line to snap up almost all the units of the Nintendo Wii that we had in stock, so it was an instant sellout.'”

But what’s more interesting is that the Wii was spotted on eBay for around $500. Now, who says scalping is exclusive to the PS3 only?
