Return of the Riimote TV controller
The world is waiting for November 19: Wii-day. That’s just a few weeks down the line, but some people (Mii me included) just can’t wait that long. Lucky for Daniel Vuckovic, he was able to ease his tensions and anticipation by getting a Wii novelty to tide his anticipation over. Now, you might think that the pictures below are of the Wiimote. Well, not technically. Look closer!
Via eBay, Daniel Vuckovic was able to strike a deal for a Wii Remote TV Controller, which is only given to members of Club Nintendo in Japan. This Wiimote Riimote is basically a universal TV controller disguised as a Wiimote. He’s posted more pictures of how it compares in size with other Nintendo consoles and other gadgets (interesting note: it’s the same length as a GameCube).
Anyways, the Riimote is a creative concept, we can give it that. Cool marketing ploy. But in all practicality, it’s more of a novelty than a utilitarian tool.
Imagine yourself trying to flip through your 3,847,294 channels in your cable via D-pad. Tedious to the umpteenth degree. Since there’s no numeric keypad on the Wiimote, you have to press the up and down buttons to change the channels. The left and right buttons control the volume.
So, are you willing to get a Riimote? Surely, we don’t mind. It’s wickedly cool-looking like whoa. The simple fact that it’s a novelty collectible makes it worth having (given that we don’t keep on losing it in between the sofa cushions).
