Riccitiello on acquiring Take-Two: EA needs more M-rated content
So what happens if ever Electronic Arts‘ attempt to acquire Take-Two Interactive’s studios pushes through? EA’s chief executive officer John Riccitiello gives a sneak peek on what would happen once Take-Two’s studios fall under their wing. Read about it in the full article.
Electronic Arts just launched an all-out offensive in an attempt to acquire Take-Two Interactive. So we find ourselves wondering: what will happen if EA successfully purchases Take-Two Interactive? Luckily for us, EA CEO John Riccitiello gave a sneak peek on what would happen should the deal push through.
One of the notable things that Riccitiello mentioned was that EA will not make any attempts to censor Take-Two-developed games. “I wouldnÂ’t change a line of code in ‘BioShock‘ nor would I in ‘GTA‘ or ‘Max Payne‘… what we would do is sell more of it,” said the EA executive. Riccitiello also said that merging with Take-Two would give EA its much needed boost when it comes to M-rated content.
Riccitiello also revealed that their intention to obtain Take-Two Interactive wasn’t something that they just recently thought about, saying that they already made some inquiries about acquiring Take-Two studios last summer.
However, EA’s CFO Warren Jenson was disappointed about how Take-Two responded to their proposal. “It is our objective to make this a friendly deal,” he said.
