Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV on VC

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire goes live this Monday - Image 1We know you’re used to having more or less four new classic titles added to the Virtual Console (VC) every time. But for this week, we’ll be focusing on the “less” part of things as Nintendo announced just one classic video game that will be revived this week. Maybe the folks at Nintendo are thinking that this lone video game counts as four, if one consider its weight and importance.

What we’re talking about is Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire. It should be remembered that this same title hit the online download service in Japan last February and we also found a listing of this on the official site of Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

Wall of Fire has actually appeared before on numerous platforms, including MS-DOS, but North American fans recognized its Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) version the most. The game takes place during the era of the three kingdoms of Wei, Wu, and Shu. They are at war, of course, and the player’s main objective is to unite China’s all 43 cities.

The video game sticks with the tactical and simulation genre the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series has been known for. Players, who control a ruler in the game, should be able to command a range of officers as well as form alliances with other kingdoms through foreign policy. All of these will culminate into a military conquest.

Looking back, Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire is indeed significant especially during its original release back in 1994. It will be priced for 800 Wii points and up to 8 players can try and conquer China in one go. It should go live this Monday at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
