R-Type Command getting sequel this October
Speaking of sequels, here’s another one. Irem has announced in Japan that the portable strategy offshot of their R-Type franchise, R-Type Command, will be getting a sequel this October.

The sequel is called R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate. No, I have no idea why it’s called that. Instead of having humans fight off Bydo forces, this one has two human factions — one that embraces Bydo tech and another that despises it — wage war against each other.
The gameplay will be pretty similar to the original, although R-Type Tactics II will have double the amount of units. There are also some extra abilities such as jamming and being able to seize enemy ships.
Just like the earlier post on the White Knight Chronicles sequel, this one’s Japan-only for now. It’ll be in retail on October 29 for JPÂ¥ 5,040 (about US$ 53). I’m sincerely hoping that this title makes it stateside as I loved R-Type Command.
