RUMOR: 3.03 OE-B, coming soon to a PSP near you? *UPDATE*

Knowing what we do, bhattsan offered us this tip, this news report at the French-language PSP- Generation, and, well, let the picture speak a thousand words.

So they say.

Is there a reason to doubt seeing a 3.03 OE-B in the next forty-eight hours, mon ami? Maybe not – PSP-Gen did claim that they received the word from Dark_Alex and/or Mathieulh: “Thank you once again in Dark_Alex and Mathieulh for their work has and to have entrusted this small information to us.” It’s hard to believe what we couldn’t see, though; in the wake of Faux-Alex, we’ve been especially careful in trying to find out where a lead other than from the man himself comes from, particularly in this case. Nothing in the dan.lax.st site about 3.03 OE-B, either.

Given the pattern of 3.00+ OE-x releases from DA, though, these quick updates do fall into the pattern. Still, this is still technically hearsay, and useful details like added features could have been added to help verify this report. No one toss their cookies yet. You know we’ll be watching very carefully for the next 48 hours.

Thanks for the watchful eye, bhattsan!

UPDATE: This news, err, rumor sure had some of you excited. So excited, in fact, that you made speculations of your own as to what we can expect from 3.03 OE-B. To stop the guesses from getting out of hand, Mathieulh made a comment in this very article. In case you’re not up to reading the 60+ comments (as of press time), here is what he had to say:

Ok as it seems too many people have been speculating too much about upcomming 3.03OE-B features, I’ll leak the main feature info.

It will simply allow full resolution avc videos (480×272) to be played on the psp official player by breaking the 320×240 current limit for avc video playback resolution on the psp official video player.

Videos will use the same container (MP4) as any other videos encoded for the official player, thus no need to use pmp player anymore or to encode videos to pmp format
