Rumor: BioShock extra content already in the retail version
We’ve all been enjoying 2K Games‘ survival-horror video game, BioShock (PC and Xbox 360), and we’re sure a lot of you are curious about what the devs have planned for us in the long run (read: downloadable content, and more plasmids, among other things). Zemlor from the 2K Games forums has a theory, and pieces of evidence from the PC version’s .ini files.
According to the poster, the .ini files come from BioShock‘s installation. And in case you’re curious, here’s a snippet of the bits of code Zemlor gleaned from the Manual.ini:

Entry=nNEW FROM RYAN INDUSTRIES!
Entry=nHaving concluded clinical trials on four new Genetic Improvements, Ryan Industries is proud to announce the general release of their newest products:
Entry=nMachine Buster
Entry=Vending Expert
Entry=Sonic Boom
Entry=EVE Saver
Entry=nLook for them at a Gatherer’s Garden near you!
Interesting isn’t it? EVE Saver, Sonic Boom, Vending Expert, and Machine Bully. Speculation is thick in the said forum thread, most of the posters think that 2K Games is looking to charge extra for the extra BioShock content pack with the editor since the said plasmids can be unlocked with a code. Was it supposed to be a surprise from 2K Games (free)? Or was it really meant to be purchased as a content pack? And what about the Xbox 360 version of the game?
We’ll have to wait and see what the happens when it happens or when an official announcement comes from the devs themselves (whichever comes first). We’ll keep this this snug on the rumor slot for the meantime. We’ll keep digging for more info on this, keep your eyes peeled, too.
