Rumors of an image importing feature to be added to Media Molecule‘s LittleBigPlanet by Christmas have been flat-out denied by an LBP community manager.

According to a post by Sam_Protagonist on the PlayStation forums, the feature is technically doable, but the part about a Christmas patch is pure hogwash:

Image importing is very much technically viable which may be what Alex [Evans, co-founder of Media Molecule] is referring to, however there are currently no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons.

There were no details regarding the “variety of reasons”, but off the top of my head I think it has something to do with copyright issues. If you’re still gung ho about importing pictures into the game, though, you could always just use a PlayStation Eye.
