The next DS?

Both Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata have confirmed that new hardware is being developed. They never specifically mentioned a new DS, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from turning.

Citing unnamed sources, French gaming site GameKult is reporting that some studios already have dev kits for the new Nintendo handheld in their possession. No particular development studios were mentioned, although a CVG report mentions that The Pokemon Company is the only third-party studio to receive a dev kit.

This new DS will allegedly sport HD output and motion sensing. It’s been rumored before that it will be shown at GDC next month, but according to CVG’s source a March announcement doesn’t fit with Nintendo’s timeline for the new handheld.
