RUMOR: Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis heading to PSP?
Here’s something interesting. Next Generation’s Tim Rogers recently posted a kind of recap for the recent Square Enix Party event. Near the end of a long list of Final Fantasy titles was this entry:
14. Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis — originally released on Japanese mobile phones, this cute little action-RPG set in the popular FFVII world will finally find its true audience when it’s released on PSP, and with luxurious networking abilities. I played it for a few minutes on a friend’s phone and didn’t understand what was going on, though maybe the mileage will vary on the PSP.
Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis may not have made waves outside Japan, but news regarding anything Final Fantasy-related usually doesn’t slip past virtually all of the other members of the gaming media (print, online, and otherwise), even more so since the title ties in with FFVII, arguably the most popular installment in the franchise.
No one else reported anything about this, though, so we’re taking this with a Meteo-sized grain of salt. Of course, Rogers could be just thinking about how the game would reach a bigger audience if it was ever ported to the PSP. Or he could have mistaken it for the other “Crisis” title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (which is pretty unlikely).
So, anyway: rumor, a case of misunderstanding, or potential scoop? Leave a comment and let us know what you think.
