Love it or hate it, Bethesda Game Studios’ The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360) made a big impact on the face of open-ended epic RPGs and its type when it was released in 2006. While it doesn’t seem that we’ll be expecting a sequel to come out anytime soon, there’s been word that a spiritual following from Oblivion‘s lead designer may be on the rise.
According to an article from Kotaku, the recently leaked Crucible title may be the latest brain child of Oblivion designer Ken Rolston and developer Big Huge Games. Following denials from Sega that the newly revealed title held no relation to their own similarly titled game, there’s a big possibility that this may be the “strikingly original” console RPG that’s due to be published by THQ in 2009.
When THQ first announced the Rolston-led RPG project, it opted not to reveal the name of the upcoming title. The only other information revealed about the game was that it would be released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC by next year. No further details have been revealed since then, but we’ll be sure to follow this up with any new updates as we get them.
