Rumor mill: Gamestop’s Wii Demo Kiosk to require credit card?

Wii

We know you like a little rumor here and there to spice up your life along with the latest news on the Nintendo Wii, so here is something that should get your brain thinking. Rumors have surfaced across the internet about the Wii demo kiosk requiring a credit card to be handed over to the staff at one of the biggest games store of today, Gamestop, in order to prevent theft of the glorious Wii’s Wiimote. Maybe this is why there will be no Wii for Wal-mart?

An undisclosed friend of an undisclosed manager (bear with us on the mafia-style secrecy here) has claimed that information has been revealed at a recent Gamestop manager’s conference that suggests that they will be the only video games retailer to receive the Wii demo kiosks because they would require playing-customers to hand over a credit card as a deposit for the Wiimote after Nintendo ruled out a number of other security precautions such as wired controllers as they claim they would hamper the gaming experience.

Remember, although the source seems to sound legitimate, this is still a rumor and may not turn out to be true. We at QJ would happily hand over a credit card as a deposit in order to play the Wii in a demo kiosk. In fact, they can have the credit card if we get a Wii!
