Rumor mill keeps churning for Project Sylpheed for the American 360
Spencer of Siliconera revealed that a conversation with Microsoft Game Studios VP Shane Kim has yielded some juicy but unconfirmed news. He says that Project Sylpheed by Square Enix is indeed coming to the Xbox 360 amidst the rumors that the game may not materialize for corporate reasons. There was also word that it may be a Japan-only release.
The game is an off-shoot of the 80’s game Silpheed, and Square Enix is working on an HD incarnation of the game for the Microsoft machine. The game will be an FPS – a genre which isn’t necessarily Square Enix’s cup of tea. Nonetheless, the company does have some prior experience in the genre as it released the FPS Einhander for the first Playstation in the twilight of the 90’s.
Microsoft is still mum as far as official statements go, but screenshots and videos have been on the rise. We hope that this promising shooter’s fate turns out well in the Xbox 360.
