Rumor: mysterious screenshot hints new Square Enix game/franchise in the works?
Square Enix sure has a lot on their plate right now – to now hear them come up with yet another new franchise is quite surprising. Nonetheless, it seems that that just might be the case if recent rumors from Japan are to be true. A screenshot has surfaced showing something completely new, something completely mysterious – yet something quite familiar too.
Square Enix sure has a lot on their plate right now – to now hear them come up with yet another new franchise is quite surprising. Nonetheless, it seems that that just might be the case if recent rumors from Japan are to be true.
Though I’ve yet to see a picture of it, reports are coming in, talking about the a new issue of Japan’s Official PlayStation Magazine, which has a mysterious screenshot from Square Enix.
The way IGN describes it:
The screenshot depicts a warrior with a massive sword slung across his back (go figure). The silver-haired figure appears to be standing on some sort of scaffolding that overlooks a large, partially mechanical canyon. That’s all we know.
Here’s how Final Fantasy Union describes it:
The screen shows a man with long white hair dressed in black. He has a blue scarf around his waist and is said to carry a giant sword. Sephiroth perhaps? Probably not, as then it would have been quite obvious what the game was connected to.
Both descriptions seem to describe a Sephiroth-like dude – not surprising considering quite a lot of Square Enix characters fit the androgynous bill as well.
Could this screenshot be linked to that special Kingdom Hearts announcement next week? The matter of platform may have also been revealed too – knowing that this appeared on an issue of OPM, it’s almost sure that this game is going to be for either the PSP or PS3. This however doesn’t mean that the other platforms are excluded too.
