Rumor: PS3 Slim to cost UK£ 40 lower than cheapest current PS3, will come in 2 models
A Telegraph report has claimed that the long-rumored PS3 Slim is “expected” to cost less than the cheapest current PS3s by around UK£ 40 (about US$ 68) when it hits retail. The same reports also says that the Slim is “likely” to be available in two configurations. More after the jump.

The statements above are unsourced and should be taken with a heap of salt, but for info’s sake here’s what the Telegraph has to say about the PS3 Slim:
The new console, dubbed the PS3 Slim, is expected to cost less than the current generation of PlayStation 3 consoles, which start at around UK£ 300 (US$ 508) for the 40GB version. The Slim is likely to come in two models, one with a 40GB hard drive, another with an 80GB hard drive, with prices expected to start at around UK£ 260 (US$ 440).
Keep in mind that even if those UK prices turn out to be true, North America will likely have totally different price points — quite possibly way lower — owing to the sometimes nonsensical differences in the nature of game and console pricing in the two territories.
The Telegraph also reports that according to DigiTimes, Sony has ordered enough parts to make a million Slims in the third quarter of 2009. This could be further evidence that backs up the existence of the PS3 Slim.
Still, treat this as pure rumor as of now, folks. Lets hope Sony does indeed have something official to say about it at GamesCom later this month.
