Rumor: TMNT arcade not heading for Europe’s XLBA?
In light of its earlier announcement that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) arcade game will be back-flipping into Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA), Ubisoft has stated its uncertainty of a Europe release. The company hinted at this possibility in a recent interview, stating it was “unsure if this is coming out in Europe,” which may leave this game a North America exclusive.
The TMNT beat-’em-up arcade game (circa 1989) in question is currently being readied as purchasable content on XBLA, and will be available this March for 400 Microsoft Points (US $5). Players who pick up the game can expect to play as turtles Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael through 7 levels reminiscent of their 80’s cartoon show (2003, if you count the newer TV series).
This XBL game allows for voice chat as well, which should bring back happy memories for the guys who can still remember playing and chatting alongside their buddies at the arcade. We’d mentioned the action figures, but that’s a completely different story altogether.
If it’s any consolation, there it still the upcoming TMNT game (also from Ubisoft) readying up for a multi-platform launch this March 13, which will precede the upcoming movie coming to theatres this March 23.
As we said in the first paragraph, the Europe no-show is yet to be confirmed. So just keep a stiff upper lip until further details pop up.
