Rumor: Xbox 360 Elite to be phased out already?
Hmm. What’s this? Microsoft‘s about to phase out the Xbox 360 Elite model as a regular retail SKU? Well, if recent whispers are to be believed, this may start happening come second quarter of this year already!
Hmm. What’s this? Microsoft‘s about to phase out the Xbox 360 Elite model as a regular retail SKU? Well, if recent whispers are to be believed, this may start happening come second quarter of this year already!
This rumor comes from Fudzilla, and their sources – numerous retail sources, actually, which all apparently say the same thing – reveal that the Elite will be discontinued as a regular SKU. Instead, they’ll be keeping Elite production to a bare minimum, and only offer them up for sale as part of Limited Edition bundles, like the most recent RE5 bundle.
The offshoot to this is that, with the Elite out of the picture, Microsoft supposedly will roll out a new regular SKU, one which will have a hard drive bigger than 120GB.
All this may be rumor for now, and it seems that Microsoft isn’t even sure if this new move is final. The rumor continues by saying that they’ll be closely monitoring sales of the red RE5 bundle, and from their make adjustments to Elite allocations.
