Saints Row 2 PC SKU confirmed
THQ‘s Brian Farrell isn’t shy to point out that Saints Row is one of their new, blossoming franchises, and they promised to give such videogame titles the attention they deserve from the self-proclaimed “creative hub” of the industry. Saints Row 2 is confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 after being an Xbox 360 exclusive with the first game, but it would appear the sequel isn’t planned for consoles only. As it turns out, Saints Row 2 for the PC exists as well. The specifics follow at the full story.
It was rumored today via public download portal GamersHell that Saints Row 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) was also in development for the PC. The rumor was later fueled by appearances of Saints Row 2 PC versions on major Internet shopping sites.
A PR officer of publisher THQ answered the inquiries to the rumors, and said, “At this point, I can confirm there is a PC SKU but nothing beyond that.”
Now while this technically doesn’t confirm that a PC version is in active development, it does confirm that Saints Row 2 was planned for the gaming platform and such a project exists at the moment. Shopping sites online put Saints Row 2 PC’s price at US$ 39.99, a full 20 bucks below the console versions’ retail tag.
We spent a few more moments of to snoop around, and we gathered info that Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) was also reported as coming to the PC from French site Jeux Expo (rumored also via GamersHell). It’s release date is eyed this October of 2008. Volition‘s Saints Row 2 was pushed back to release on the same month. More updates as we get them.
