Saints Row for mobiles
Yo hommies! We sho’ know you enjoy firing rocket freakin’ launchers and stealin’ some of them nice wheels.. Err, stop there. We can’t keep up. But we are happy to remind each and every Saints Row fan that your game is going mobile. In case you’ve totally forgotten already, here’s a refresher from Matthew Magee, co-founder of developer Mnemonic Studios.
Magee has always enjoyed designing and developing games and game engines as well. However, with the advent of next-gen technologies, he feels that mobile games are lagging and not being pushed to their limits.
Over at Mnemonic Studios, they are trying to revitalize mobile gaming. He gladly shares, “Lots of mobile games tend to be quite linear, and we wanted to unshackle the player and say “here’s the game world – just go wherever you want and do whatever you want and have fun!“
Saints Row for mobile will reflect so much of the X360 version, and that is a positive thing. The game involves the Third Street Saints Gang wherein players are new members. Missions include simple delivery tasks to drive-by shootings, and even full on gang warfare. There are also a lot of things to do such as car jacking, street racing and cops eluding (if there is such as thing).
Furthermore, Magee added that the most challenging aspect of the project was making the city itself. THe X360 version features a breathing, living city where you can do almost anything. He shares, “We had to build a city with a working traffic system, pedestrians wandering around, AI to control the police pursuits and the combat with opposing gang members… vehicle physics, the missions and activities, and so on and you start to realise how large the game really is.“
As it is, Saints Row for mobile is already setting new standards for mobile gaming. Mnemonic Studios on the other hand is still not contented with Magee already talking about a possible sequel.
