Samba de Amigo to get downloadable content?

Nintendo Wii - Image 1 We’ve been clamoring for downloadable content for the Wii for some time now, but it’s currently available to Wii Ware games only, like Final Fantasy Chronicles: My Life as a King. But there’s light at the end of the tunnel, it seems, in the form of Samba de Amigo‘s boxart in GameStop sporting Nintendo’s Pay-to-Play logo. Check out the box art in the full article.

Samba de Amigo Sega - Image 1If you’re wondering about being able to get downloadable content for Nintendo’s waggly Wii console in the near future, here’s something that may point out that yes, it’s possible: the box art of the Wii version of Sega‘s Samba de Amigo in GameStop features a red Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo.

For those who are more familiar with the oft-used blue Nintendo Wi-Fi logo, the red one indicates a Pay-to-play system, a service whose full details are yet to be announced.

But one thing is certain: if the red Wi-Fi logo is not placed on the box art as an error, then we can expect paid downloadable content of some sort, like in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.

If true, Samba de Amigo will set the precedent as the first retail Wii game to get paid downloadable content. Downloadable content on a retail game such as Samba de Amigo? What’s next, new characters for Super Smash Bros. Brawl? The possibilities are endless.

But of course, we can’t be sure if the box art in GameStop is even the official one, so we’ll just have to wait until we get the official confirmation, before we go nuts about this discovery. Do check this space for more updates!
