Samsung Stole Graphic Design from Apple & Microsoft?
Korean electronics giant Samsung has apparently joined the ranks of James Frey, Kaavya Viswanathan and lots of other famous and nameless people who got entangled in plagiarism scandals.
Samsung recently announced that they are changing the recent graphic designs used in its latest handset model tagged as “Skin” as it was found out that it was copied from Apple and Microsoft artworks. This announcement has proven the truth of plagiarism speculations made by various Web communities.
The new handset’s graphics (left thumbprint), which was released and sold in Korea last April has an identical graphic icon with AppleÂ’s iMac which is composed of a ruled notepad and a pen lying on it. Samsung also copied other icons from Microsoft, such as a pile of three yellow sticky notes, and blue and green, round-shaped men that represent the MSN Messenger.
Samsung has recalled the Skin cellphones from retailers, and those who already bought it can download the new graphic designs in the company webpage. The phone is a 13.9-mm thick slide-style phone with various features including a 1.3MP camera and an MP3 player. It is also capable of communicating via a Bluetooth and wireless headset.
