Satoru Iwata Thinking Game Development

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has been toying with getting back into the Game-Development business. In a recent interview with MTV, Iwata, who has a game development background, said that, “Recently I have gained a little bit of interest in getting more involved in game development again”. Though, his executive duties are taking precedence over his game-development desire.

Although he didn’t reveal much, he informed that Nintendo will reveal more about Revolution functionality at E3. He has said that Nintendo will take care to balance major sequels, big franchises, and new innovative game titles properly.

“We’re going to continue to serve, of course, the people who are looking for those classic Zelda experiences and those classic Mario experiences,” Iwata said. But along with your favorite Nintendo characters, which you have grown to love over the years, you will also get a chance to experience new and innovative games. “At the same time, we’re going to offer these new experiences to people who haven’t played games before. And these may be people who only play for very short periods of time in a day. … People can expect to see both the classic style of game that we’ve done in the past and these entirely new different styles of game play.”

He also insisted that he wants his company to be known as one which takes risks by innovating new things, as well as existing franchises. In his own words, “If all we were to ever do is just continue to make sequels and not do anything new or different, people would view us as a very conservative company and a company that is unwilling to really take new initiatives and embark on new adventures. That’s not the type of person I am and not the kind of company I want Nintendo to be.”

He also added that Nintendo will reveal new games at E3 which are being developed by American Developers, whom they met at last year’s GDC.
