Scanned: Demon’s Souls dated in Japan (and other media)
Famitsu‘s laying down the release date for From Software‘s upcoming PS3-exclusive, Demon’s Souls – also affectionately called “a next-gen Shadow of the Colossus meets Elder Scrolls” in some circles. For the record though, Sony producer Takeshi Kaji had King’s Field as inspiration for Demon’s Souls. Along with today’s scans, we’ve also included some media for those of you who (like myself) can’t get enough of those epic beasties.

Today’s Famitsu scans reveal that the game will be rolling out on February 5, 2009, in Japan. Aw, poo; still no word of a western release, but we’ll take what we can. Famitsu’s feature also seems to outline the character creation and customization (lower-left, second scan)
They also seem to detail the different classes to choose from (center, second scan). Now is it just me or does one of them look like Rikimaru from Tenchu lore?
Meanwhile, we’re going out on a limb here and might as well post some screenshots for the game, taken from the official site. Note that these screens are pretty old – they’re from some time during TGS, when the game was first revealed. We some how missed the media releases in the tidal wave, but still, no hurt in posting them now. (Bah, whatever. I’m just using this as an excuse to indulge in some epic creatures and medieval gore.)
Oh and what the hey. Might as well include a gameplay video too. Here’s a demo of the game as seen on the TGS show floor. Please be reminded that what you see here probably isn’t of the final build of the game.
