SCE Australia: No price cuts for 60GB PS3 unit

With the new line of 40GB and 60GB PlayStation 3 units happily littering homes everywhere around Europe, gamers in Australia are wondering when they’ll be able to enjoy the cheaper deals being offered to their European counterparts. The possible answer to that question might sadly be: never.

A lot of people around the country are finding this rather unfair considering Sony Computer Entertainment Australia is a subsidiary of the European branch, who are getting the much appreciated price-cuts on its 60GB PS3 line.

Accordingly, SCE Australia reasoned that the reason behind this move is that the stocks for AU$ 999 60GB PS3 units “are all but dried up”.

Until more announcements from SCE Australia come up, it seems that those expecting to get a PS3 this Christmas will still cost them an arm and a leg just for a souped up 60GB unit. Either that or they can settle for the smaller 40GB version with no backwards compatibility.
