Sony‘s currently standing on shaky ground, with the impending announcement of layoffs just around the corner. SCEE, however, remains a safe haven. Sony’s European games division has given word that they have no plans to reduce their headcount, and will be safe from Sony’s cost-cutting measures.

That done, let it not be said that I only write depressing news.

The assurance from SCEE comes straight after Sony announced that it expects to post a US$ 2.9 billion loss, and has lowered its projection sales for the PSP and the PS2. Layoffs in Sony’s other game divisions is still not assured though.

Worries over SCEE’s future was already preempted by SCEE boss David Reeves, who said last December that they’re “certainly not planning to cut back in personnel at all.”
