Scramble Misses XBLA Release; Will Get Microsoft Spanking

XBLA!Life is like a box of chocolates: sometimes, messes get sticky and they’re a pain in the rear end to clean up. That’s probably what Microsoft is thinking right now as Konami‘s Scramble fails to deliver the goods for this week’s XBLA Wednesdays (They’re also thinking of spanking Konami for being a naughty boy).

For those not in the know, XBox Live Arcade Wednesdays is a weekly event where a new game or function or treat (or spanking) is put up on the XBox Live Marketplace for download. It’s one of the things that makes the XBLA so popular, since there’s always going to be new content, and you don’t need to shell out much to relive some nostalgic gaming moments.

What happened? Microsoft was supposed to send out an XBLA version of Scramble, this fun little arcade shoot-em-up from the 80’s. Instead, they had to delay sending it out to fix what they’re calling “minor issues” inside the game and to “ensure a high quality game experience for all when the title does launch on its new date of Wednesday, September 13.” Looks like programmers are going to get a hearty whipping to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Poor guys.

Anyway, in place of Scramble, this week’s offering will be a Project Gotham Racing 3-themed Uno Deck. 150 Microsoft points or a buck and a quarter for it, no spankings necessary for purchase. Thanks to randman for the heads-up!
