ScummVM v0.9.1 PS3 Emulation Binary
Now that your PS3 is well-acquainted with its resident Linux system (you’ve already installed it, right?), you’re bound to hit gold sooner or later. Besides, if it can support Linux, then it can support pretty much anything that The Penguin can handle. Let’s have a test run, shall we? Guess what we found over the net:
SCUMMVM v0.9.1 PS3 Binary is basically the emulation code you’d need to use on the Linux in your PS3. ScummVM is an implementation of the SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) engine used in various Lucas Arts games such as Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle…. Also ScummVM is capable of playing several non-SCUMM games.
Since this application tool is still under heavy development, we’re still not certain whether to categorize this under homebrew. At this time, it should be regarded as Alpha software and that the developer even states that many games running on the emulator would have some bugs.
On the bright side, this could possibly be considered the first, to our better knowledge, gaming-related homebrew to hit the PS3. ScummVM, after all, is already well-supported and continuously updated as a homebrew emulator for the PSP and NDS, among other systems. So, while this baby’s still in Alpha mode, we’ll give you guys more info on it as soon as the internet gives a shout-out.
Meanwhile, you can take it for a spin!
