Screenshot of ScummVM main menu interface - Image 1A couple of weeks ago, we saw games as simple as Snake and Tetris popping up on the Wii homebrew scene. However, a recent breakthrough from developer dhewg was able to show a successful port of the popular ScummVM emulator on to the Wii platform.

ScummVM for Wii was based on the svn revision 31355 and makes use of the console’s GX hardware scaling as well as its internal SD slot. The emulator requires you to have an SD card to save the program’s information and a GameCube controller for its interface.

The current public test version of the app was successfully able to run a copy of Sam & Max Hit the Road, as seen on the video below. However, the developer noted that ScummVM has an issue with returning to the SD loader after starting a game. Using the quit button inside a game tends to crash the app and causes it to lock up.

In any case, please make sure to take a look at the program’s documentation included in the file bundle for detailed instructions on how to install it on your console. We hope you enjoy trying out this great emulator for the Wii and don’t forget to keep coming back for this spot for more Wii homebrew updates.
